55 Gallon sump/fuge build help
Finally got my octo 200 and my 55 gallon tank Im using for my sump. First my plan for the sump is in the first section will be dual socks and the skimmer in the same section. The instructions say that the water level for the skimmer should be 6-10 inches. So my first baffle will come up from the bottom anywhere from 6-10 inches to set the water level right? Also, should I put egg crate or something underneath the skimmer to bring it up some? Not sure what the benefit is but I see a lot of people doing this. If I did that the wall would be built higher to set the water level right?

I prefer to build the baffle high and prop the skimmer up on an egg grate platform. This has two advantages; it increases the water volume in the sump and also allows you to adjust the height of the platform to the skimmers sweet spot. If you use the baffle at the set point there is no adjustment. You can also swap skimmers in the future and simply redo the platform height to adjust for the new skimmer requirements.

Anyone know about baffle hight in a 55 gallon sump or how much room I should leave at the top of the tank empty?
