Dubbles 120 mixed reef
I have been in the hobby for just shy of two years now. I have read thru some threads on RC but nave not started my own till now. I have a 120 mixed reef. For equipment I have a 40 breeder for q sump. The skimmer is a reef octopus NWB200, mag18 for the return pump. Duel BRS reactors that I run carbon and gfo. Two magnum 7 power heads and two 120w programmable LED lights.

I guess I should've mentioned that this tank has been up since April. This was my upgrade from a 55. The 55 was starting to look really good when I made the move. I think I used to much sand and the powerheads are to powerful for this tank. There is always sand blowing about the tank.
This is the 55 before the move. uploadfromtaptalk1374878201579.jpg |

Thanks, but not all that happy with the reef yet. I have been working a lot and have not spent much time looking after the tank other than water changes. I tested the water a few days ago and my calcium is high and alkalinity is off the chart. I don't have a magnesium test kit right now.

So I have been working on this system for close to two 2 years now. I am confused as to why I don't see any copapods (don't know how to spell it) or also don't grow coraline algae

Lol you're not alone (even in your head). As for your lack of pods and coralline....what are your current water parameters? You mentioned alk was off the chart. Getting alk, calc and mag into range and stable would probably be my first suggestion.
