Even flow
I bought a 150g aquarium used and it came with an Acrylic Creations HOB (5.5x4x5.5) that feeds into a WD. Obviously not enough, so i added another 'no-name' used overflow (6x6.5x3.5). The flow is just a smidge under even. I'm loosing almost .5 in every 8 hours(approx) out of the sump and its bugging the crap out of me. Sump is a 55 with Rio 2500. Is there an equation i can use(like the gallons equation) to figure out the GPH of the overflows? Or maybe you guys know by the measurements.

Sounds like evaporation, this is normal and corrected with an ATO. If I'm reading your question wrong this should also help, GPH that an overflow can handle are determined by the diameter of the bulkhead and the pipe/tubing used. Try this http://www.reefcentral.com/index.php...flow-size-calc This table for a Rio 2500 should help with how many GPH your pump is providing. Max Lift in Ft./GPH 0`/782 1`/720 2`/666 3`/580 4`/529 6`/375 Last edited by ganjero; 08/09/2013 at 07:55 AM. |
