Diatom bloom?
My tank was cycled after a month so I got a CUC and waited a week and all my test were still reading 0. I got a fish on monday and since them it looks like I am having a diatom bloom. Some algae is sticking to the front of my tank, and in one of the corners there is algae that looks like spider webs. Any suggestions?

Feed as lightly as possible, decrease your lighting for a bit.
It will run it's course. |

What do your nitrate and phosphate levels look like?
Diatom blooms are typically caused by high nitrate and hair algae is a sign of high phosphate |

Diatoms are a sign of something releasing silica in the water, usually the sand. Extremely commin in new tanks. It will typically go away by itself and most cleaners love this stuff.
In any new tank you will typically get Cyano, Hair algae, Diatoms or a combination. You got lucky and have the best option, congratulations. |
