Any problems with ProFlex sump?

Hello all -- I am new to the hobby and this is my first post. I have been doing freshwater for a while, and am now taking the plunge. I found this 40g breeder for $40, and my brother built me a stand for it (he is a professional metal fabricator). I attached a photo (hopefully).

I need a sump, and have taken to the ProFlex model 3. Anybody have any problems with it? Is there a better, reasonably priced alternative? I don't want to build one.....just want to find one that will last a while (and not leak!).

I am going to throw a skimmer in the middle section. In terms of a refugium, I was leaning towards a HOB (while unsightly, I light the idea of pods spilling into the tank rather than some getting ground up in a return pump).

Thanks!

I have one, mine leaked; split seam, after three months of use. Very thin acrylic, and weak seams. I must admit they replaced it right away, although its a "one time" replacement policy.

It's kind of a joke in the office, it's called a ProFlex because its supposed to have many uses, but the damn thing actually flexes and bows out..........

What sucks is I am almost at the mercy of using it because my fish room components are designed around it.

I would look elsewhere, or have a custom sump built, my refugium was made by ADHI, and the build quality is FAR superior then the ProFlex.

Mine is model 2. Have had it for a year and a half without any issue. Nothing leaks. Kinda pricey, in my opinion, but other than that, serves the purpose.

I have a Model 3 the first one started to come apart inside the black plastic separated from the sides and the center cover would no longer fit the store I purchased it from TFP said it was because I had live rock leaning against the back A 3lb rock? the company replaced it under warranty so far so good but one time thing is new to me I guess I used up my warranty if this one fails! I will look into a better one later I want to get my $$$$$ out of this one first I wont buy any of there products again I have a skimmer from them and it was a big waste of $$$ I knew I was going to learn through trial and error going from fresh to salt I thought it would be with what I put in the water not the hardware!! I guess all I can say is live and learn I should have researched the products on this site with questions like this one before I jumped in.
