Having a problem with algae

I have a 300 gallon aquarium including sump volume. I know when starting a new tank the dusty detritus happens. But I have what looks like green hair algae growing on my rocks. Only it's not green it's brown . I just took out a few pieces of live rock and blasted them with water and the brow. Stuff just comes right off? Any ideas ?

double check with pictures to make sure what you have is what i described, it comes in waves with new tanks, or with old bulbs.
