Maroon Clown's Compatability?
I have 1 Maroon Clown it's been in my 75 Gal for over 6 months and wanted to get another to hopefully pair them up, a few days ago I went to Petco to buy another Maroon Clown since that is were I got the first one, They were all about half the size of the one I have and looked a bit different in markings I was not sure if the one I have changed as it matured I have posted Photos of both, the older one does not seem to like the new Clown being in the tank and has gone out of it's way to show it's dominance! it has backed off a bit hunting the new guy down! but can anyone tell me if the new Clown is the same type Maroon Clown or is this not going to work. are they different species? is the new guy even a Maroon Clown did Petco mislabel their fish again? what are these Maroon Clown's Compatibility's?
Thanks Ken |

There only 2 diffent kinds of Maroon clownfish. The ones with white bars and the other with yellow. So to answer your questiion - they're the same clownfish species.
Of course they are the most aggressive of all clownfish species. I wouldn't worry too much. Just give them a chance to settle in. |

OK Thanks the little one is still going and my wife said she saw the new guy nip the old one real good and it want running back to it's corner, the only thing I have noticed is the new guy stays close to the top looking up not really in any specific area just on the right side of the tank, it drops to the bottom when the lights go out and sits almost perfectly still on its belly occasionally tips over on it's side but corrects it's self after a minute or 2 I think it's ok just worn out from spending so much time swimming rapidly looking up even if it is in a low current area.

Pairing maroons is very difficult.. I tried to do it only to wakeup and find the smaller one dead... They sell glass boxes u can krep the new fish in for a while , this allows the original to get usee to the new comer. Maroons are beautiful but don't play well w other's.
