mystery of hermit crab and disaappearing zoo's
I have a 55g mixed reef with only a clown and a sixline in it. water params in check all other corals doing great, but everytime i put zoanthid frags in they are there and happy for about two weeks then almost disappear overnight, they dont close up but just totally disappear. I have only one colony that seems to grow and multiply out of 8 that i put in over the previous months.
Looking at the tank during lights out I noticed a hermit on what was left of a frag, the next morninig frag was wiped clean. this one crab always seems to be near the scene of the crime. I have 5 other hermits and snails in there and all seem to be reef friendly. Do blue tip hermits eat zoo's? And if so get rid or put it in the fuge? |

I've heard of electric blue hermits eating zoas. I had one for a while never touched them but it's possible. Thow him in the fuge and see if your missing Zoa problem goes away
