Eventual tank move. but got a coral question...

In a short few months im goin to be making the move back to the jersey coast. its a 3hr drive from where im currently at.

As far as planning the move, I got all that down, live rock will be submerged in water from tank, fuge sand will be replaced, and display sand will be rinsed and reused (sand is only 10months old in a 220g with 3x 1" damsels in the system)..

im thinking when I originally reset up the 220g in jersey, ill put the fish and corals I have in a 20L tank that will eventually be a QT. How long should I wait to transfer everything to the 220g? obviously I know I have to test water, but im thinking any cycle should be minimal since I will have probably a total of over 350lbs of aged live rock in the system. am I accurate with that thought?

I would have to agree with you. Are you going to be reusing the water that the LR will be submerged in? I moved from a 34g tank to a 75g. I used all the old saltwater from the the 34g and the LR and LS from it and didnt have an issue with a new full cycle just a small increase in nitrates from the move. I did add another 30lbs of LR that I purchased and another 40lbs of LS I purchased as well. The old sand went into the sump(fuge section). I was even well undersized on the skimmer until a few days ago when I upgraded the skimmer(found the right deal). My old skimmer was doing well since the tank wasnt stocked much at all and could handle the little bioload.

I used to have a 240g and a 180g at my previous house years ago before a divorce and lost both tanks in that.

ill use as much of the old water as possible. put im goin to have about 200g of freshly mixed salt water, it will be ran for over 24hrs before goin into the tank. im gunna use the same sand in the display for the display just rinsed out. and im getting new sand for the fuge since I have a 6" sand bed in the fuge now. don't wanna reuse that. so my plan is to rinse that as well. let it dry out and eventually it will be used on my buddy 120g when he starts it up. but I do think with that much live rock that I have, any cycle should be minimal at best when resetting the tank up...
