Tank question

I have found what appears to be a nice 180 acrylic tank that is new and never used at a nice price but was made in 2005. It is 1/2 inch with center overflow. I was told it was made by a company in Arizona.

Should I be concerned about the seams since it has been dry so long. 1/2 inch ok for 180...72x24x24

No expert but I believe when they glue acrylic together is bonds the 2 pieces together I would say you are good. But don't take my word for it

Its fine. The bonds are chemical. If it were a glass tank i'd be a little leary about the silicone drying out. Nice find.

nice find if the price is right, from what i've seen acrylic tanks are almost double the price as compared to glass tanks. good luck

My 240g (8'x2'x2') is 1/2' acrylic with the same bracing you have. I did have one crack but it was my fault as my stand was level, but not perfectly flat once it was full (bowed up in the middle) which the acrylic compensated for for over a year.

Amazingly the break resulted in no water loss as only the top inch or so cracked...Bottom line....1/2" acrylic is very tough. Had that been glass I would have had 240g of water on my floor.
