fans in canopy

should i have my fan blowing air into or out of the enclosed canopy? im thinking out of it. let me know what you guys think.

Out is fine. Do you have another hole, or an open back, to let the new air in? One in and one out will move even more air.

I have one blowing in and another blowing out. This creates a flow of air that moves across the tank. One thing to consider is the type of fans you have. If they're durable, and can withstand having salty air being pulled through them, then you can have them blowing out. If they're not, then you might want to have them blowing in (so fresh air is pulled through them).

Most canopies are very open in the back, so only blowing air in shouldn't be a problem. I had one blowing in and one out. The 1 blowing out got rusty in less than a year, the other one was fine.

mine is fully enclosed (to keeping all my fish (tilefish) that like to jump in the tank) there is a 1 inch wide open strip at the very top that runs the full 6ft of length. i am mainly looking for whatever configuration will disapait the most heat, since my house stays warm and between the skimmer and return pump, my tank is staying pretty warm, around 86. i have been able to lower the temp a bit since i got rid of my horrible annoying t5s and got my new leds, but i would still like it a bit lower. also, everything is actually doing fine at that temp, havent lost anything yet. other a couple crabs i dropped right into the tank before i realized how warm it was.

the fan is an apevia computer fan, this thing is beat as crap. it has been on the tank maybe 2 inches from the water for over a year. with water splashing on it constantly (in my other tank) it built up a nice salt crust, but still runs like new. no rust (all plastic).

I have mine set to blow in. This minimizes exposure to salt and the high humidity of the tank, and should result in longer life.
