Tank upgrade.
Hello everyone.
I have a Biocube 14 that is about 8 months old. I also recently setup a 40g breeder with live sand and some live rock as well that i would like to move my current biocube setup to so i can mod the biocube and start over. The 40g breeder is setup with halide instead of the compacts that the Biocube uses. I have a modified Aquaclear 200 as well and will be running sumpless. I have never moved a established tank to a new tank before so if anyone could fill me in on some things i need to take into consideration that would be great. Thanks guys. Edit: I forgot to mention that i have 2 clowns, peppermint shrimp, several blue legged hermits and 2 snails in the Biocube. Along with some button coral and brain. If it was me i would start to do water changes to the biocube and then using that used established water to do a water change on the 40. This would help make both systems very similar in water quality. Then after you feel everything is established. If you are planning on starting 100% new in the biocube i would take 100% of the water from the cube and do a WC on the 40 this would/should stop all shock with the live stock switching form one system to the other. You could also use the rock and sand if you want too.
This has worked for me in the past with no ill effects. |

I did a 35% water change on the biocube last week and poured all the water from the biocube WC into the 40 gallon. I have gotten them pretty darn close at the moment.

Im just hoping the moving of the established live rocks dont cause a cycle. I currently have a crushed coral bed in the biocube(hate how ugly it is) and sand in the 40g. Any problems there?
