Can someone help me identify this?
I was hoping someone with more experience could help me indentify this formations on this live rock? I am new in the hobby and want to be sure it is nothing harmful. Thanks for your help

Hard to tell. Looks like cyano. Does it blow off if you use a turkey baster? Or is it hard like coraline algae?

Thanks for the reply back I appreciate the help. Here are some better photos of this little rock. The substance on the rock is not hard like coraline, if you look at the underside of the rock there is more. I would like to identify as a sponge but I am having trouble matching anything to it. It can not be sucked up with a baster, whatever it is it is attached to the rock.

Looks like chondrilla mate, at type of sponge we call liver sponge.
It can appear like fungus and this one is a provider of nudibranchs toxic defences, if it is liver sponge. Check google images with that name and see what you think. |

Thanks for the feed back my friend. I was able to find some pics from some people who have had some very back luck with this sponge. I have just removed it from my tank, it was in there probably 12 hours and I am hoping with that little time frame there is no ill effects on my tank. Thanks for helping out!!!
