Which Protien Skimmer - Bubble Magus Curve 5 or CAD Lights TIA-1150?
I'm in the process of setting up my new 45g cube with a 30g sump.
Tank with contain both SPS and LPS with some smaller fish......medium bio-load. I'm considering the Bubble Magus Curve 5 because of its smaller footprint as well as having been on the market for a while. Which protein skimmer offers the best performance? Thanks in advance! |

I really like the cad light version it's easy to dial in and offers great skimmate production....just my 2 cents

What other skimmers have you used in the past?
I've only had the ASM G3. It was painful getting it setup. Had to mod with gate valve and mesh . Never did get it to skim consistently! |

I have a Curve 5 on a 65g. Runs like a champ. It has not been a problem to get running smoothly. I just ran it super low for a week to let it break in then adjusted the bubble line up to where I wanted it. Took another adjustment or two to fine tune and I haven't had to touch it since (except for cleaning of course).

With me ASM, when I empty the skimmate I found myself re-adjusting the flow.
Do you have to go the same with the Curve 5? Thx! |

No. Once it was set, it was set.

I saw my buddy's Bubble King. The waste cup just sits on the skimmer body.
All he needs to do is lift it off. Is the Bubble Magus like this? Thanks! |
