Is my fuge configured for efficiency?
So I'm starting to think I have shot myself in the foot with my fuge and how I have it configured..
So my fuge is a large chunk of a 40B sump. I started out with a nice 7-8" DSB and put some large multi-pound (2-3) rock pieces in the fuge. I thought I had done the right thing, combining some nice big rock pieces, and a DSB... Now that I think about it, there isn't a lot of surface area that the DSB is exposed to, which now I'm thinking that my DSB isn't really doing anything. Is it dependent on how much surface area is exposed to the water, or can nutrients brought in through an exposed area be shifted to the rest of the DSB regardless of whether it is exposed to water? Sorry if this is a stupid question.. That understood, would it make more sense to.. A) leave it how it is, it should be fine because I get benefits of a bunch of rock, and some DSB. B) Remove the rock completely, and just expose as much sand as possible. C) Remove the DSB completely (Really would prefer NOT to do this...) and just put rock in the fuge. What do you guys think?

Remove the refugium and put in a algae turf scrubber. Unless your goal is to culture pods.
