Orange Spotted Goby

Hey guys/gals. Ok so the rookie in me has taken control again. My wife ordered me some coral frags over the black Friday weekend sales. She ordered from www.saltwaterfish.com . I checked out the order before it was submitted and I snuck in an orange spotted goby. I have always like those guys. I decided I would do the research on it before it got shipped. Well I was reading it only eats frozen, meaty foods. Ok that's cool. I have frozen fish food. But how often do I feed these guys? My clown fish seems to think that anytime I introduce Mysis shrimp into my tank, it is all for him. I don't want to overfeed my clown or have him eat shrimp on a daily basis. How do I go about feeding the goby/how often? What all can he at? And does it require a shrimp or will it be as happy without one? Thanks in advance guys.

If you have other fish eating voraciously he, he should eat just about anything, flakes, shrimp, whatever he can fit in his mouth, just like any other fish. The issue is that they are opportune feeders, so he may only eat when something comes to him.

OK that makes sense. I only have a clown fish in there so not much competition. I turn off my power heads when feeding and I mainly feed sinking pellets. Should be too hard to drop some right over his head.

I drop food in the tank where I know the current will take it near where my goby is.
He rarely strays 6 inches from his hole under the rock.
He only takes food that comes close, and I only see him every couple of days.
I guess what i'm trying to say is, you may need to get food to pass near to his spot.

my orange spotted goby is a little pig. he gets right in there with the other fish and has no problem jetting around and getting his share. after i have fed frozen, i drop tiny pieces of raw shrimp or scallop in. the goby, the dottyback, and the long nose hawkfish scoop it up and oftentimes, the brittle star will make an appearance for a chunk.

Current Tank Info: i gave my reef away and i feel like a bird out of a cage!!
