vadka dosing vs no3 po4-x
hey guys (and girls) im very new to the hobby and am hooked. can not stop doing thing or trying things looking things up. i have a 75 gl tank that i rescued from my brother inlaw in a aud this year. prior to that i owned a fresh water tank abojt ten years ago and maybe had one fish init. anhways when i got the tank it had been off for weeks so imagine the sludge that was in there all the fish were dead except two clowns. all coral were dead and had a blag ring of just bial rapped around the whole tank. so i cleaned the hell out of it kept about 90 % of the live rock and all the live sand witch took litterally days to get clear.
Now about fkve months and lots of research later. i have zooanthids,(in witch i just sucessfuly finished fraggin/propagating) candy canes witch just split from 2 to four, dunkins, pariatides, one damsel, flame tail benny, sand shifting sand star, sea hare ,huge turbo snail, bumble bee snail,3 emeral crabs two anemones,a beautifull blue and green brain coral, a red coral that i cant for the life of me find out what it is,2 shrimp, and another coral that i cant find on line...my elements for the last four or 5 months have been perfect until recently. my niyrate have been a little high about 40 to 80 so ive been doing water changes and usin no pox. and jys come down to 20 and 30. but no further. i only feed once a day. i have a skimmer that works well . trying to figure out how to make a rufegium. my question is should i start vodka dosing? sorry for the ramble! |

It sounds like your running 100 mph. lol I would not start Vodka dosing yet. Continue with the bio pellets and continue with the water changes. Water changes are the easiest to do and control.
Remember, if your Nitrates are @ 30 ppm and you do a 10% (7.5 gallon) water change, you nitrates would only drop 3 ppm. It will take multiple water changes to get the nitrates to a manageable level. Continue to practice good husbandry and give it some time. Good Luck!
