A.E.A.B.... Acro eating algae blenny nightmare
I got a black sailfin algae blenny several months ago, labeled by LA as a much better algae Eater than the normal kind. He has been fine up to yesterday. I noticed one of my biggest acros starting to stn from right in this middle. Odd place to start but I go nuts testing and all is good. All other corals look good.
Then i notice.... the Blenny relentlessly attacking my acro!? deeming it impossible to catch this 1.5 inch fish in my 200g tank full of rock and coral, I move the acro to my frag tank. 10 minutes later he is attacking the next largest acro. So I move that one too. 10 minutes later on to the next! I'm so ticked off, idk what to do. I set up an acrylic trap and baited it with the first acro he attacked. Hes not going near it though. What a nightmare! I even found where he sleeps in my monti caps and attempted a sneak attack with no luck. He dives into the rocks as soon as I go near the tank with a net, even if I hide it behind my back. Anything i can grab that will eat an algae Blenny?

I'm not sure if it is any help, but, I have had 2 bennies in the past tear up green slimer acropora's, only Green Slimers however. The 2 mentioned are the linear Blenny, and a Tailspit Blenny.I currently have a Midas Blenny that has been with me for a very long amount of year and hasn't ever looked at a coral with intent of harm.

Its a definite attack on the corals, when he goes at them he's biting the same spot over and over until the skin is gone.
All green acros he has gone for. and a plum crazy that I had to move to the frag tank. I have a green slimer, but he hasnt touched that one. yet. No luck getting him near the trap yet. I drilled the trap to get some flow into it for my acro bait frag, but Idk how long i can keep it alive in the trap.

Well tonight I turned my photon32 up to full blast at 1am and chased this little demon out from his hole with a stick. Right into my gigantic waiting net. Now he has been sent to purgatory, my sump. Lol
Hopefully my corals can recover. A couple look in bad shape. I will never let a blenny back in my tank.
