Changing up the pumbling, need advice
I found a great deal on a 300 gallon acrylic tank that I could not pass up, but I hate the way it has been drilled to plumb. There are currently two 1.5" drains on the bottom in the back corners (surrounded by overflow boxes), and four 3/4" returns drilled into the back wall. I was thinking I could close off the overflow boxes, and drill my return through them, and convert the holes in the back wall to a beananimal set up.
Any reason this would not work? I would love to remove the current overflow boxes, but that does not seem to be a possiblity with acrylic. Thanks for your time! |

Yes you could do that. It is possible with a lot of work to remove the overflow boxes (cut them off flush and sand out the area where they were glued to the tank) but you would likely need to sand so deeply to remove the overflow box residue that there would be some distortion in the acrylic.

I figured that removing the overflow boxes would be more trouble than its worth. For now, I will plan on using the 1.5" drains to pass my return line through, and make the 3/4" holes largers for my bean animal drain.
Thanks! |
