Mangroves in Display with Led Lighting
Hi, I'm in the process of a new tank build. I want to move my 3x 27-30'' mangroves from my sump into my main display. I currently have two Radions g2, that will be centered on this 60''x27'' tank. I'd like to place the mangroves directly in front of the center overflow (volcano style). I'm willing to add a 3rd LED fixture (not Radion) to be elevated above the mangroves. I'd like it be mainly support mangrove growth but not distract from overall lighting scheme. For the most part, I have the Radions at full strength 12k setting.
I'm considering adding a single Kessil A150W 10000K or Evergrow D120. Any suggestion or recommendation on spectrum? Mangroves are currently under 8 par38 compact fluorescent in 40g refugium. |

Just a sheer guess, but considering the mangrove usually gets sunlight directly from the air (IE no water interface) I would guess the closest mimic to natural sunlight would be good?? A D120 would be cheep and allow you to customize a color combo with 2 dimmers to allow you to adjust as needed.

i have 5 nw and 10 rb's, 4 uv's over a 45g hex tank, the few corals that are in this tank also show very nice color.

thanks for the responses, and the light details...this helps. Adding this extra light with the radions should be enough. This light would be at higher elevation then the radions to be above the mangroves. But, I didn't want to destroy the overall color of the tank.

Just purchased an Evergrow D120, I plan to do the DIY layout. Once delivered, I'll put the Radions towards the side of the 60'' tank and put the Evergrow over the center (above mangroves).
gpx1200, Did you ever reach a conclusion on if the UV are good or bad for mangroves? |

Did you get your tank and lights set up yet? I would love to see a photo of your display. Thanks.

Not yet, tank is ordered. Carpenter is building a wall with a pocket door to close in 6ft arched walk way today. I'm hoping to have it all set up by mid May.

I know this is an old thread but 8000K tends to do best for mangroves.
