Power head/wave maker ?

I've been looking at power heads and they seem pretty big. Is there another way to get water movement or something that stands out less? Also are wave makers any good if so what are some good brands?

You can do a closed loop, where an external or internal pump draws water from the tank and spits it out via a "loop" of outlets that are on top or hidden in rockwork.

There is the possibility of external powered powerheads like EcoTech, though they can be pricy.

What size tank are you putting these on?
