Why do you want to make the switch?

The shimmer is what won me over on the Kessil. That and it's hanging over a rimless cube so it looked perfect. Made in America.

My Kessil A350W was made in Taiwan. The volume of their manufacturing is done at a 88,000 square foot facility in Taiwan. This facility is a 100% subsidiary meaning Kessil/DiCon have 100% control of everything going on there. Kessil stands behind their product.

Fair warning, be prepared to own a lot of blue photos of your tank. They don't look this blue in person just the led effect.
I love this fixture over my 60 rimless cube. Majority of my corals are lps and seem to do great. I have a maxima that appears to be doing well (doesn't turn to directly face light). And light has not been a limiting factor on growth (tank is still young). Hope this helps. P.S. I have not seen another led fixture with the same quality of shimmer. expect some shading as the light source is all from about a one inch square. |

I agree that the Kessils are unmatched in their shimmer. Very nice fixtures, super easy to use, super portable, nice warranty. One thing to consider is the spread... while the wide angel will light a large area, the intensity off-center is not very high so you'd want to have more than one every 2 feet in my opinion. So if you have a 6 foot tank, I'd recommend getting 4 fixtures. Then you'd be absolutely GOLDEN.

I only like the sleek look of the kessil lights! More than that, I like the fixture with LEDs in every corner

Can you guys also post which Kessil you have, how high above the waterline it is and what percentage you are running it at? I have a 360we and it's at a height of 8" and I'm running it around 80%. I only have two corals so far thus I'm unsure if it's too bright for the corals.

Very nice photos/videos... Anyone out there with a fully stocked tank of sps/clams? Honestly the only thing that will pull me away from my t5s is the kessil's ability to light sps and clams well.
The reason I'm even thinking of switching is due to bulb changing every 8-12 months. Honestly, every time I change the bulbs I have to hear my wife complain about me spending money even though money isn't the issue. I also want the shimmer from Kessil. I first got interested in the hobby at the age of 10 when I went to Hawaii and snorkled and scuba dived. It reminds me of my childhood. My t5s light my tank perfectly but bulb cost over the years as well as I am about to spend 200-400 dollars to add reefbrites to my ati fixture means added costs that would equal switching over to all Kessils. |

The only seriously dedicated sps tanks I've seen with kessils, also had some other source of light. I ABSOLUTELY love the look though and haven't found a single thing that compares IMO. So I tossed two 350's over my 60g and added two blue+ t5's.

I have a maxima clam in my tank (been there about a month and a half) that appears to be doing fine by all the signs I've read to look for but I know that clams are tricky. SPS is a broad category, for instance I have a sunset montipora on my sandbed that is doing great.
sorry about the bad pics My light is the kessil 350w my blues are at ~95% white at ~40%. The fixture is roughly 6 inches off of the water and my maxima is about 12 inches below that. The light is slightly dimmer than other leds as people suggest but that is a viewing thing not actual light output IMO. I would not recommend a single fixture over an SPS tank because there is significant shading, however the fixture does produce enough light to grow acros and what not if the proper number units is used to avoid shading. I would also recommend keeping in my that stony corals colors behave differently under leds from what I have read and seen. |
