Vodka dosing and chalices.

I am thinking about getting into dosing vodka in my 75 mixed reef but before I do I really want to make sure that this will have no negative effects on my chalices. So far in my research I am not finding much. Im seeing that some people are dosing with amino acids and their LPS do better after that but I'm not really finding much else.

I feed my chalices every 2-3 days and they eat fine. Any info or suggestions are appreciated.

Does it depend on which chalices? Some of mine prefer dirtier water I've noticed. I dosed vodka for a few months but never saw any positive changes so I stopped. I have 9 different types of Chalice.

I used to dose vinegar and lost several encrusting montiporas, 2 SPS colonies and 1 chalice. The one thing that you need to be careful of is your alkalinity level when carbon dosing. I run my Alk at 10 dkh, and when carbon dosing you never want to run it over 8 dkh. Research "Carbon Dosing & High Alkalinity"

Im seeing that carbon dosing drops dkh not raises it?

The point is carbon dosing when you keep your alkalinity higher normally has seen some ill effects as far as corals dying there isn't exactly proof but i have had it happen in my tank as well as many others it seems like enough proof for me anyway the old saying is 50 people don't get up and tell the same lie

So keep it in the middle and see what happens?

I can not stress enough to keep it below 8dkh. We ran a test on a smaller tank and did fine until we started to raise the dkh above 8. At 9dkh we started experiencing burnt tips and RTN on a few frags. I no longer carbon dose as my nitrates are undetectable due to a large refugium.
