Adding live rock to established tank
I have an established tank and would like to add some more live rock. Is there any issues/concerns with introducing anything undesireable if I do add some more live rock?
Thanks

Probably want to go slow so your biosystem can keep up with the added nutrients.caused by the die off. You can buy the rock you want, put it in a container with a powerhead and heater to cure it. Then add a piece, watch ammonia and nitrate. If everything is looking good then add another about 10 days later. It really depends on how much you want to add compared to the amount you have. I wouldn't throw 10lb of rock in a tank with 5lb and not expect an increase in nutrients. If you throw 10lb in with 100lb there would probably be little impact.

I would suggest setting up a smaller tank with a heater and flow for lr. Watch the rock day and night and see if you see any pest pop up. If so I would kill them

if you add base rock that is dead and dry under your live rock it will not cause any problems but will gradually turn into live rock. this is the cheapest and easiest way. make sure the rock is light and pourous and you can even make your own rock.
