Controller location question

I have an new aquacontroller jr (bought it long time ago) that I'm going to use on a 92 corner tank. I have the sump on the right side and I have the controller on the left side along with the DC 8. Really nothing else on the left side.

Is it bad to put the controller/dc 8 underneath the tank where the sump is? Is there going to be corrosion/function issues with humidity etc?

Thanks for your advice!

I have done it in the past, but it really is not the ideal place for electrical outlets or electronics. One splash and you have all sorts of headaches. I have nothing electrical plugged in inside my stand, all my stuff is in the cellar and runs up through a covered panel behind the tank. Even that is not technically ideal as I imagine it is not 100% to code.....I just feel it is safer than the alternative. .

I have seen some people build a separate small area inside the stand sealed from the sump area and others that put a small cabinet next to the tank.

yep all depends on the humidity down there and if salt creep/splashes will effect it..

I did like james77 is suggesting.. A small enclosed (externally ventilated) box thats part of my stand to house all the electronics.

Thank you for your replies. I thought about putting the plugs/controller in a stand next to it but I found alot of the cords were not long enough to reach the DC8 so I went inside the tank. I'll just have to keep an eye on it and try and keep it as clean as possible. I do have a fan in there blowing air out so maybe that will help a bit. Thanks!

I put a small nail or cup hook and hang the cords and strip so at least they are not sitting on the bottom

You should be ok....I am not trying to alarm you or anything, it just is not ideal. I had mine in my stand for years with no problem. Just watch fro splashing and salt creep, and unplug each plug every so often and check for any signs of corrosion. If they are clean, I would not be worrying
