New Tank Questions

Hey Guys,

Had a few questions of what to do next with my tank and I heard that this is the place to come!

I have a 35 gallon saltwater fish tank which has only live rocks in the tank. The tank has been set up for 6 weeks now. Fluval 405 in there as well.

I just tested the levels an hour ago and they go as follows:

PH 8.2-8.4
Ammonia- between 0 and .25 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate- 0 ppm

I know that I need to have the ammonia level at 0 before I start putting fish in. I was looking at API Ammo-Lock Ammonia Detoxifier. I'm not sure if this is the next step I should take. A 25% water change might have to be done as well?

I also don't think the tank is getting oxygen. I was told that Tetra Whisper Air Pumps (Non-UL) could be something that I should buy. I am not sure if this is correct or I should get a powerhead or airstone? Sorry if these are all silly questions!!!

Any help you guys could give me will go a long way!
I have attached a photo of the tank if that helps!

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

Sam

Have your nitrites and nitrates risen at all? At the last stage of the cycle, your nitrates should be present and ammonia should be zero..... Would need a little more detail regarding what has happened over the last six weeks.

Nitrate and nitrite levels have gone down to 0 over the last few weeks. I know that the ammonia level should be at 0 and thats why I was going to buy the Detoxifier.

There should be enough bacteria to take care of the ammonia by itself. Hopefully somebody with more experience than me can weigh in here.
