+1 with Magnolia. My clicking came from a glass aqueon heater. Great find! It's like when you find a $20 bill on a pair of pants you haven't worn in a while...

Lost CLOWNS found...1 1/2 years Later

If you have a bunch of live rock, there is a good chance the clicking noise is a hitchhiker mantis shrimp. They have been the cause of my clicking in the past.

I say the clicking is a pistol shrimp. I had a Randal hitchhike in my old 29 bio cube. It never had a friend so it stayed hidden in the rock. It sounded like Someone tapping on the glass with a key. I used to feed a hole in my rock that it would reach its claw through to grab the mysis. I really miss that shrimp.

I thought I saw a huge Mantis the other day from a distance...from behind its head. I discounted it and researched a Bobbit Worm. Could this actually be a large mantis hiding for this long. I found a small mantis about a year ago and removed him. I would rather have a Mantis than a Bobbit I think. No Heater or glass thermo. Thermo used to click so I took it out long ago.

Cool story. I agree the cliking is probably a pistol or mantis shrimp. Hopefully it's the pistol.

Wow thats crazy and amazing! congratz though.

The clicking. I had a nasty grub looking shrimp that caused the clicking you describe. I would almost never see it until one day by pure chance it was out in the open. Took that guy out of my tank.

Recently I have been hearing the same type of clicking. I am hoping its my eheim jager heater like some others are saying. I would be surprised if it was another shrimp since this time my rock all dry and seeded with a small piece of lr

Or maybe you overfeed your tank and they are getting the table scraps.

I've had a pair of Firefish for a couple years, and one of them likes to ride down to the sump every once in a while.

I feed my Cardinal and sand sifter about once a week. I hand feed the shrimp a couple times a month.
