Thumbs up Fluval Sea CP4 First Impressions

Anybody that keeps an eye on the marine aquarium industry knows that Fluval has been releasing new products tailored to the marine and reef aquarist, branded under Fluval Sea. Well I just happened to receive a new CP4 powerhead from my LFS owner and would like to provide this online community with my first impressions of these value minded powerheads, especially since there is not much about them on the web.

The Fluval Sea line of powerheads/circulation pumps (CP) has 4 flavors to choose from, ranging from 265GPH (1000LPH) to 1375GPH (5200LPH) with the largest of them only pulling 8 watts of power. As far as size goes, the CP4 is slightly smaller than a 750 GPH Korallia Evolution and is actually much easier to aim than the Korallia since it can pivot a higher degree. As for what everyone wants to know... Flow, in my tank this little powerhead is pushing some serious water flow. My 750 GPH Korallia can barely push back against the current produced by the CP4. The Video I have attached I hope gives you a better idea of what I'm talking about. Please pardon the disgusting tank, I have been battling GHA for the past four months.

(if you cannot see the video, it may still be processing through Google Drive)

Hope this helps anyone looking to get a new powerhead, thanks for reading.

I also for got to add that this powerhead doesn't use a magnet on the outside of the tank so everything is on the inside. It sticks to the tank with three powerful suction cups made of marine grade rubber that will not get hard and brittle like regular suction cups. I put quite a bit of pressure on the powerhead to try and pull it off the glass and could not do it without using something to pry it off. I feel quite comfortable that it will not fall off my glass anytime soon.
