newb......
Ok, I have:
Equipment: 47g tank 15g Sump running at about 10ga. Eheim 3000+ return Reef Octopus 110 4" pinwheel Jebao WP25 (running currently) 2 Hydor Koralia with timers (took them out. a little too much flow for a fine sand bed) CPR CS90 Over Flow. ReefBreeders Photon24 with 120' optics. AutoAqua ATO with 5gal res. BRS 75 gpd RO/DI I have no idea the name of my heater, its Japanese. but it works. Stocking 40-50 lbs of live rock i pulled myself here in okinawa. 1 seabae nem 2 clowns 1 anthia 1 6 line wrasse 3 small Chromis 1 Colt Coral about 4" tall 1 Hammer Euphyllia 1 small patch of Zoas 1 small rock with quite a few polyps on it. I have about 5 years freshwater experience dealing with large electric jack Dempseys and planted tank. had to take that down when I Moved to Japan. I had no Idea how much more fun marine husbandry is than freshwater. WAY MORE BADASS. The tank is about 6 months old and i just added the coral last week, I have been using Red Sea Coral Pro Mixed RODI to 1.025 and have been to 10%changes every week, I think im going to throttle back and start doing 20% every two.(any thoughts?). Im doing a water change tommorow and will test later that evening and post the results, I have all the required test kits and ussually test every two weeks. I guess my question is How to use the program? Ive watched the videos, and see the pyramid, is ok to use the reef nutrition A,B part while dosing the "reef foundation" portion of the program? If So How much should i dose based on what Ive posted? Do I even to feed those particular coral? the Hammer has sweepers out. Looks full and healthy. I plan On some Monti's and acro's in the next couple of months. I have Reef Foundations A,B,C. I dont think that I need them yet mainly because I dont have a huge load on those elements. I also Have NOPX and last time i tested i was looking at about no3-.01 and Po4 - 0.08, a little high i know, But i will text tomorrow and she what everything looks like and post Are there any threads on step by step guides on how to use the program? also is it common to use a ton! of the salt mix to get the desired salinity? any advice would be apreciated.. Cheers. |

What program are you asking about? 20% bi-weekly water changes will be fine. Testing weekly would be better, catch a problem before it gets out of hand. People talk about having 0 nitrates and as newbies, we think we should also, I have found that my tank does better with a little nitrates. LPS don't always like perfect water. Regular water changes should be enough to keep your elements in check. Don't worry about dosing anything. None of your corals need extra feeding. BTW, Nice looking tank |

I was referring to the Red Sea reef car program.
Also I'm not feeding anything at all right now. Should I be? |

If you have livestock, yes you should be feeding them. Mysis is a good choice for general feeding
