Angry MP60 comes with crappy power supply

I bought couple of MP60 s about 5 months back after thinking long time what to buy between tunze 6255 and jebao wp60.

Even I knew jebao wp60 produce bigger waves and its dirt cheap I bought Ecotech products coz I want to get a quality durable product since I’m buying this from UK and bringing it to Sri Lanka and claiming warranty will be difficult.

I was surprised and disappointed opening the package coz both MP60 had china made power supply. I paid 1200 quid to buy something I thought made in USA and it’s actually made in china.

After running about 3 months yesterday one of my power supplies start making a high pitch noise. Sounds like caps are failing inside the power supply. Chinese products use cheap caps and this is expectable.

Since I’m in sri lanka and it’s not like I’m getting replacement soon so now I have to repair the power supply by myself. I paid more money and bought Ecotech because I want to avoid all this hassle and looks like I paid more money for nothing.

I feel like I've been ripped off.

They're all made in china, even the power supplies for laptops. The PS for my MP40 went out;had only used it for a week. Called Ecotech the next day and they had one right out to me in a few days. Call them.

Sorry to hear about the troubles with your MP60's, it always seems to happen the further you buy something the more likely it will fail and you will not be easy to fix or get a remedy.

What's the availability of picking up a generic power supply locally there in sri lanka?

You'd be hard pressed to not find a product with some parts made in China. The MP60 is a great pump and moves a tons of water. I love mine regardless of the location of manufacturing!!

I tried to find a generic power supply but no luck. Tank seems running fine so far with 1 Mp60 but there are few visible dead spots.

And Alex I send couple of mails to you guys before I post here asking how to open the power supply so I can try to fix it replacing caps. But still no replay from you guys except Request received mail.

Anyway ill send another mail to the address you given here.

It will be helpful if u can tell me how to open the power supply. Seems like casing doesn’t have any locks and its fixed using glue.

I would make sure to have the Attn Alex in the subject of the email. Alex gets things taken care of.

I don't think ecotech allow you to open and repair the power supply yourself. The almost they will ask you to send back for 1 -1 exchange.
