Must have fish in 90 Gallon?

What are the "must have" fish in a tank? In other words, what fish fulfill a purpose in a tank to keep it balanced?
I have a 90G tank and currently have 2 clowns.

No fish are necessary. Although some things like tangs and blennies can help control algae.

Depends, what are you planning for the tank? FOWLR, Softies, LPS, SPS, or Mixed Reef? Gobies/blennies will help keep the sand and rock work clean and are good in most tanks.

Good point. I have 2" sand bed. Currently have frogspawn, zoos, and pulsing xenia, but once i get comfortable with the water stability will have SPS. (using 3gen radions).

Whatever fish you like are necessary. This hobby is to give us pleasure so whatever fish you want to keep that will work in that size tank with your current bioload..there's no universal answer to that one..if you'd like a suggestion, how about a Purple Tang??

Purple Tangs are recommended for 6' tanks at a minimum, he has a 4' tank.

I have a 90 gallon too, my stocking list...

2x Tank-bred Ocellaris Clowns
2x Cleaner Shrimp
3x Peppermint Shrimp (I never see them )
1x Fairy Wrasse (Red Headed Solon)
1x One-Spot Foxface (Foxface Lo gets too large for a 90 gallon, One Spot Foxface's are a couple inches smaller)
1x Royal Gramma
1x Diamond Goby
2x Large Feather Duster
Once my pod population is high enough I plan on getting a Green Mandarin Dragonette as well

I also had a Neon Cleaner Goby, amazing fish and my absolute favorite, but he passed a couple days back... Unfortunately Neon Gobies have a very short lifespan of only 1-2 years and it was just his "time". I'm going to get a new one this weekend.
