Money to spend $$$$$
With this fantastic tax season, my wife has allotted me ~$1000 to spend on my tank. I have a 6' 200 gallon. I currently want to upgrade my cheap LED fixtures, and I want to upgrade my powerheads. I really want mp60s,and the radions. I have decent flow now, and I really dont have any corals that need the extra light (zooanthids, toadstool, and Kena Tree(i think its called). I have a carpet anemone and a RBTA.
One problem im having it seems i have a lot of debris floating in my tank. my sock filter gets dirty after 3-4 days so i know its getting out of the tank, just cant get rid of it in the water column. I am already running GFO and carbon too. Im looking for suggestions and any other thoughts. thanks guys |

With that kind of set up, you probably already have an auto top off system, but if you don't, that is money well spent. If your nems are doing okay under the light that you have, lighting probably isn't a priority. They require pretty intense lighting. The radions will run almost double your budget to put three on top anyway. I have a couple of wp 25s, and have been pleased for over six months. Two mp60s would also exceed your budget. I would consider the wp 40s with the new dual controller. Some people are haters because of lack of evidence of longevity, but you can replace them about five times for the price of the mp60. ATO, wp40s, then the rest on live stock, or just sit on it until you make a decision.

Most people will object to this, and I am not even sure if it is good advice, but get a cheap used canister filter from Craigslist and use it to polish your water intermittently. Maybe the extra random flow of the wps or mps will help your overflow pick up the suspended detritus as well.

He was referring to WP-40, not MP-40. Jebao makes these not Ecotech. They are much quieter and alot cheaper! lol I have a WP-25 and love it, I can deal with the cord in the tank for 400 bucks less cash spent! The jebao's look like a tunze.

Just for reference, if I had the money I would most likely get the radions, the mps and the apex. Hard to go wrong that way. I was talking about the jebao products as pumps. I know that there are threads here on mps and wps and the magnet effectiveness on varying wall thickness. My tank is small, so I cannot offer an opinion.

I would go Apex...Seems like you have the basics of everything else. I wish I would have got my self one from the start. I did not see but would assume you also have and ro unit. Not sure how much a cal reactor is but I think you can get a phos reactor for cheap...!

yes i do have a Ro/di... I have about a gallon/day evap. and for the $ jepao looks like the ticket!! that cord is a slight eye sore but $400 would almost pay for the apex. which sounds like a plan. apex and jepao. 2 birds 1 bill. I'll have to look in to the diatom filter Den, never even heard of one.

Just for reference, I have wp40 on my tank with 1/2" glass and it sticks no problem. They use a combination of suction cups and magnet. Also, if you're going with the apex as well, I'd read up on using it to control the jebaos - you'll need a cable for it that you can either make yourself or buy (they're pretty inexpensive either way.)
