Kole tang mouth open?

My kole tang purchased a day ago has quite a wide mouth not sure if normal as i am new to tangs but if you look really close at the rock directly under his mouth you can see something hanging from it and it is a cloudy color kind of like the shed of a slime coat off a scaleless fish

fishguy,

first a suggestion, punctuation can make your posts a lot easier to consume. it's a challenge to read through the words you posted and grasp your intent (no judgement here, you can see I don't much for capitalization myself).

but, unfortunately, kole tangs in my experience are a bit notorious for mouth injuries during transport, which can be insurmountable. I don't see anything hanging from this fishes mouth, but if it doesnt start looking for food in the next day or so I'm afraid there may not be much to do. check them carefully at the store before purchase in the future if this one doesnt pull through.

Open mouth all the time is not normal. I can't remember what it is, but it is a non-normal medical/physiological condition. If you search around, you should be able to find it.

Unfortunately, the one Kole tang I had in QT with this condition perished shortly after I noticed this. It had no other visible signs.

Sorry for your loss. When ever you buy fish, make sure they will eat at the store. If the store is not willing to feed them for you, move on.

Best of luck
