In-tank Refugium

I've been thinking about getting a Refugium for my 75 Gallon SW tank (+20 gallon sump), but fell short when it came to the design aspect of it. I then came across:

which seems to be the best of both worlds. I think I could get some plants growing as well as some additional pods to help with water quality and food source. Does anyone have any experience with this or have any recommendations for what to add to it?
Would a starter kit be overkill?

I have a standard 75 Gallon FOWLR with 4 Chromis, 2 Goby Engineers, a six line wrasse, and a Banded Sleeper Goby. I've been fighting a cyanobacteria and bubble algae issue for most of the time I've had my tank established (a little over a year).
