Seems like a great deal, I'd be worried about what might be wrong with everything. Lighting alone is $500 brand new. I personally would want a stand for the tank though.

no, it usually isn't that easy....
what you need to consider is the equipment and how much that would be used. Generally I use 1/2 of retail as rule of thumb for current value. Ultimately you need to be comfortable with the price and is it worth it to YOU. The other part, equipment aside, is moving the animals. Are you prepared for it? Do you know how? Are you ready with all supporting equipment? If the RODI unit isn't already set up what will you do for makeup or additional water? While not impossible, of course, moving an entire system with animals requires a good bit of planning - to be done SUCCESSFULLY (meaning - no loss of life). So think it through. not only is the $ right, but are YOU ready for the tank....and is your house (room) ready for it. |

The light is cool, but older design skimmer, so so RO that is an additional $100(not worth it IMO) eheim is good return but does not say model, a 40g breeder goes for $40 typically at petco.
No livestock. The only real desirable thing I see here is the lighting. I personally would seek a better overall deal, I don't think this is that great of a deal, and there are certainly better deals to be found.

I would offer $500 cash and not go over $550. If he is willing to throw in the RO, then maybe $600. Be patient. I know it's not easy, but be patient. There's deals all the time on craigslist. also check out your local reef forums for deals.
