ReefBrite Halide Hybrid??? Any Good?

Hi all,

I'm looking into replacing my Marineland Pro Series 72" fixture that has 3x150w MH, 8x 39w T5's and six LED moonlights over by 180g 6' x 2' x 2' with something that will give me a little more lighting for my SPS. The current fixture has done alright but I feel that it is lacking somewhat since it only has 150w MH's which appears evident in some of my Monti's and one ORA Purple/Green Acro.

I was looking into getting two 400w Reefbrite Halide Hybrids and was trying to look for some reviews but have not seen any. I like the fact that they have the LED's on the side that I view as being more accent lighting. I was worried about losing my T5's where I use Antinics for the color, so the Blue LED's on the Reefbrites are a plus. Anybody have some experience with these that they would like to share? Other recommendations besides the ReefBrites?

Currently not interested in going solely with LED's... I just don't think the technology is there yet, especially considering the price premium. Maybe in a few years when they are a little bit more developed and the prices come down.

Tagging along on this one. I am thinking of replacing my Radion with this light as well. One thing I do like about the Radion is how it makes everything pop especially in the blue spectrum. I have a 6 Bulb T5 on my frag tank and IMO after having the Radion I don't know if I could go back to the artificial look of T5s. I like this light because you should be able to get the growth, shimmer and color halides are known for and the blue leds should give the shimmer in the dawn dusk applications you cant get with T5s.

Hopefully someone has experience with this light.

For a 180 you're going to need 3 lights. Unless you have the center cross support, not the twin cross supports. I use 400 w radiums, and no blue supplementation is needed with these.

I have not seen one of these in person yet, however with your current light you have more than enough power for a 24" tall tank with good bulbs. What do you feel the problems are with the corals?

Wow... this thread is over a year old. I ended up going with the Lumenbright large pendants with 250w Reeflux bulbs that I just changed to 250w radium 20k. Just not enough info on the reefbrite as far as reviews. Those Reeflux 12k bulbs were good at first but only last 6 months and then start causing some severe problems.

Oh, I didn't even pay attention to the date, didn't realize these lights have been out for that long. I thought they were brand new to the market. Weird there is much out there on them.

Haha well since we've opened up the discussion...

The Reefbrite MH/LED hybrids are pretty stunning. One of the best looking lights available. The LED's add pop that just isn't gonna happen with MH alone. I know there are some great balanced color MH bulbs like the Radiums, but I do love the control you can have with LED's. I've refused to give up MH, but use the LED's to fade up to and out of the "full noon" light of my halides.
