Wireless or Wired Ecotech Vortech?
(Sorry for duplicating same question I also posted already on Equipment sub-forum; trying to make a buy/no-buy decision quickly on a wireless unit that is for sale.)
It's been awhile since I purchased Vortech pumps, and they've"grown up" a lot since then. Question: what additional functionality, if any, does wireless driver provide over "standard" wired driver other than ability to control/set things without physically plugging the driver into a computer? (I am assuming as a baseline assumption that you are able to adjust settings by connecting computer to the driver via a USB; is that correct?) Thanks

I think the wireless capability just connects with a radion light if you have one, sync with another wireless vortech pump or with the reef link if you have that. If your plan is just one pump and you don't have a radion or reef link the wireless is useless.

This has helped. The auto ramp-down based on comm'n with radions (per reply to other post I made) might be a nice feature, since I recently purchased one of those, too. (My assumption that it allowed "non-contact" programming/setting of the pump -- at least currently -- was incorrect.)
Thanks.

Other devices that can communicate with vortechs are controllers like APEX or Reef Angel (with extra modules) which somehow can allow you to do what you posted in the original question, program the pumps from a computer (as long as your controller is connected wirelessly to your computer) |
