Golden headed goby not eating in QT?
I have a very small 1.5" golden headed goby in QT right now. The tank is 20g with bare bottom. I have two pvc 't's in there for hiding spots. He's not eating. We're feeding a mixture of nutramar prawn roe and brine shrimp, and I have a novi strip in there. I'm just not seeing him come out. Any suggestions?

Did he eat at the store? Are you planning on prophylactically treating it?
It would be more comfortable with some sand in there.

I'm not sure if he was eating at the store. They had him for a week, I do know that.
I have prazipro and was debating a general treatment plan. Treat everyone, or not. The concern I have is what I CANT see. I didn't want to treat with copper until I saw signs of ich. I've got the cupramine on standby. The wife and I talked about putting a flat tuperware in there with some sand in it. Any thought on that?

Personally, I would add 1/2" of sandbed to the QT. These fish are really not comfortable without sand. Sand will not interfere with prazipro treatment, but could interfere with copper.

Well, that's kind of a problem because there is a HIGH likelihood that we will have to treat with copper. The LFS's around here are terrible with the ich....

i wrote a guide on qt, use pure silica sand.
From it: "1" minimum to 2" deep is fine. Reason for not to use live sand, live rock, or any carbonate-based decorations is when you medicate with copper and/or other meds, this material interferes with the proper dosage. Also, if using copper, the life will die in the sand and the rock and cause a spike of ammonia and nitrite. For a sick fish, this can be near instant death. Silica sand doesn't cause any problems noted above. Note: even though you dont really need sand in the QT and the fish can live in QT without sand without any ill effects. Also remove the sand when fish is out of QT. "

Roger that. I'll find some pure silica sand and see if we can't give the little guy a tupperware with sand in it.
Also going to try dropping some algae waffers in there so the fish have something to pick at... I saw the Kole tang picking at the rocks.... there's two small pieces of old coral in there (nothing growing on them but algae)....
