Help! Can't get power to my tank

I'm not sure what the issue is. I am using this multi-outlet thingamajig:

The above thimamajig had this wotchamacallit plugged in:

All that happens is a weird cloudy vapor appears, and then all the lights in my house go off.

I'm thinking maybe...aliens?

That's a ground probe. You can't power your tank with a ground probe.

Do you find your fish prefer a dry white to a desert wine?

It's getting close to the 15th isn't it?

There ya go again, Jack. Blaming your equipment (and extraterrestrials) for poor husbandry. Let's not let this thread go the way of so many other threads just like it. Unless of course you have real data to back up your claim of aliens??? Hmmmmmm?????

I am really thinking I should have put this thread in another forum.

Does this place have a forum for really smart people?

See Brian, where you went wrong here was not making sure your neighbors electrical outlet was protected by a gfci.

Yes.

There is a secret forum that not even the mods know about. It's where all us smarties hang out.

That'll buff right out BrianD, I would throw some duct tape around it and give it a shot. It's fine.

Don't get me started. If they would have some higher quality electrical outlets, there wouldn't be scorched earth between my power strip and their garage.

Cheapo jerks. If my extension cord hadn't melted, I would be taking my business to my other neighbor's house.
