Looking for a submersible pump other than mag
I got a mag drive 9.5 a few months ago for my return on my 150g. It def isn't enough and I was looking at the mag 18 and 24. Are there any cheaper submersible pumps out there that are worth a look?

Reef octoous diablo DC controlled pump. Think the model you would want is the 5500. If buying I got my 3500 online cheaper than a mag 7. Great pump so far.

If you are looking for a comparable pump the Laguna Max-Flo 1500 is the way to go.
I know it looks like an egg but that is just the case its in, it comes apart to the same familiar aquarium pump shape. The motor block is made by askoll in italy. And this motor block is a direct replacement for the ones used to make the high end Red Dragon pumps. It will use 50% less energy then the mag 18, will be silent, and is extremely durable. I use one on my skimmer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Laguna-MaxFl...item5405d11e51

I think I'm going to go with a jebao 12000. I can grab one for $110 and it moves water

I wouldnt trust the well being of my system on a Jebao. If it were a circ pump then maybe I would risk it but not on a return pump. totally agree on the Laguna (askol block=nice & reliable)
