is this too much light

thinking of trading my 6 bulb tek fixture for this light 48” Aqualight Pro, 2x250W HQI Fixture By Coralife do you think this is too much light for an all sps 75 gal tank, any info is appreciated

I don't think it is too much. I ran 2x150w over my 65g and feel like I could have gone 250w.

personally I think it may be a bit much, I ran 2x175's over my 90G, 4' wide tank, I had plenty of light all the way to the bottom. Do they make a similar fixture with 2x150 HQI's ? You have to think not only are you producing more light, you are producing a lot more heat, not to mention cash to run them

If you can manage the heat, you will be fine. Def not too much light.

A coworker runs 8 overdriven t5 on his 90g sps tank, 680w of goodness

New 210 custom 84 x 24 x 24, 60g sump, SWC 250 extreme with bubble blaster 5000, 2 vortech mp40, 2 vortech mp10, 12 T5, Water blaster 5000, warner marine bio pellets,

60g clownfish cube, red carpet anemone with a 25g sump,SRO octopus 1000sss, 250w radium, lumenarc large.

john do you know your par readings on the sand bed also did you keep a lot of sps?

You could also shorten your light cycle to help with heat, and electricity.

Sorry, that was on an old tank, I didnt have a par meter, I kept mainly lps corals

I ran two 250 watt HQI plus two T5 bulbs in my 90. Just that and a calcium reactor and my SPS grew like weeds.

Only downside was that I needed a chiller.
