100s if not thousands

if not thousands of tiny thngs



ok so I took a look in my tank and I see hundreds of tiny little pink kinda,,, in color things swimming around together like a tornado in the tank? ive seen white little coppepods so that's not them ive never in 15 years of owning saltwater tanks have I seen this.....the tank lights are off so when I put a flashlight to the glass they swim towards the light and start spinning around like a tornado........and a couple hundred of them on the sand bed in the corner of tank buzzzzzzzzing around ,,,,,,to small to see any body parts just little tiny pinkish dots they don't stay on the glass they would rather swim ..........is ich visible by human eye?

Ich is not visible. Likely just another species of pod you havent seen before. There are many. Maybe cyclops. They are reddish.

From your description, I think I have seen these too, after lights out, once in a while. In my tank, they are usually only in an area with low-ish flow (the far back corner of the tank). They seem to come and go and only are present in visible numbers if nutrient levels go up. They are always attracted to the beam of a flashlight. For me they have never been a problem. YMMV. They are definitely not Ich.

If they don't appear to be epitokes, how about mysid shrimp?
