They are an unwanted invasive species here. They are naturally occurring and part of your balanced ecosystem. That is not the case here. Plus they are delicious.

That was weird. Maybe instead of eating them, we can ship them all to Australia. I am pretty sure they kill the invasive frogs and rabbits in Australia.
Anyway, why do we always get invasve
species like snakeheads and lionfish? Why can't we get invasive copperband butterflies or Swedish Supermodels?

Hahahaha Yeh we have enough exotics over here. we could eat the rabbits, but then they thought introducing the colicey virus was a good idea and it would wipe all the rabbits out. Problem is the rabbits have some resistance to the virus now and we can't really eat the rabbits because of the virus they are so yummy too.
I would allow the plague of butterflies or supermodels in aus though

I saw a documentary a while back saying they were training black tip reef sharks to reconize Lionfish as a potential meal. They had limited success but some of the sharks took a liking to the Lionfish meat.

They said that these sharks would "show" the others that Lionfish isn't a threat and is comestible. Eventually all the sharks from the test area would attack the Lionfish from below to not get stung and the Lionfish population drastically lowered where sharks were present.
It was a sample group in the bahamas.

I was in Australia, Sydney just when they were building that opera house.
Loved the place, especially the birds

+1 I like to eat them a lot and actually prefer them over other fish. I have a vacation home in DR. Lionfish is a problem down there/ invasive but local people are scared of the them because they think they get poisoned which means more fish for me at cheaper prices.

I wonder if the invasive swedish supermodels would cross breed with the native species or not?

In my experience with the right quantity of alcohol I would say it is quite possible.

They're here now so get your plates and get in line. They are very good eating nice white and flakey. I live on lake Okeechobee and have found 2 Burmese pythons, 2 seperate occasions. One was about 3' and the other was sunning on my pontoon and was about 6'. Where they came from who knows but I don't doubt that they are here to stay as well

I live in Indiana....should I be worried about lionfish eating my child? Right now our most invasive problems are Asian carp and zebra mussels. The sunfish are finally learning how to eat the mussels.

No one. Lionfish are native to the Indo-Pacfic which probably includes parts of Australia. They are not native to the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico waters and pose a pretty large environmental problem.

If someone sends me over there I'll stop them in there tracks, all I need is my speargun and dive stuff and that will be the end of them. And for the deep water we can get rc submarine attach at pole spear to it find a way for the sub to shoot the spear and take the fish off and bag it. And then we have a all you can eat buffet yum yum
