Rock with Green Hair Algae, moving to new tank?
I am setting up a new tank. The old tank has a lot of green hair algae.
One rock has some really nice mushroom corals on it, but it is surrounded by green hair algae. The new tank will have much lower nutrients so i dont see hair algae issues, but by bringing this rock over, will it cause more issues? |

It could. Your best bet would be to scrub the hair algae off the rocks. Mushrooms are very resilient so don't worry about them.

The rock likely has phosphates bound inside it. Scraping the hair algae off will help a bit but it will probably just grow back for a bit. I've seen a single hair algae covered rock in a low nutrient tank without a spec of algae anywhere else. If the tank is truly low nutrient the algae shouldn't spread.
Manual removal is still a good idea before the transfer.
