Anyone use Digital Aquatics Lifeguard Monitoring System

Was going to get this. I just need to monitor ph, temp, and email me when it out of wack.
Wondering if anyone is using it and how they like it.

Sadly, DA seems to be on life support itself.

Actually they have just released a new module and have two more soon to come. They have them on their Facebook page.

The Lifeguard system works pretty good. I have one and it is built very well and does just what it is supposed to do. Its in a metal enclosure and if I was forced to find a complaint it would be that the ethernet port is a little tough to get unplugged because it is tight quarters, but how often are you going to need to unplug the ethernet cable?

Just for transparency, you have a connection to Digital Aquatics, don't you Dave? BTW I am very glad to finally see some activity from DA regarding product development.

What's a shame is that the lifeguard is just what I'm looking for. No need to control stuff as all my equip has its is own nice controller. I just need a monitor.

IMO DA is about the worst direction you could choose for a controller.

The Lifeguard will not email you if something is out of whack. I am sure it is very competent at what it does, if you have researched it at the DA website. I think you need a DA controller with a Net module to get alerted to issues.

Might want to look at reviews on some of the vendor sites before you buy a Lifeguard. Agree that if all you want is a monitor that will notify you, it's pretty much exactly what you want. But for about $120 more, you could get an Apex Jr with a PM1/ph probe that will do the same thing... plug give you 4 controllable outlets. Might also want to look at the Reef Angel. Just because you buy an actual controller, it doesn't mean you have to have it controlling anything!

Buying a controller for monitoring only is kinda silly. I can almost guarantee once you get a controller and see the abilities you will take advantage of them.

Look into the reef angel. It will give you everything you need plus some.

Not even in the same ballpark.

Now a full Apex is a better comparison but I still give the edge to ReefAngel

Why is ra better. I've been looking into it and I do like it. But with Neptune new fusion I'm not sure now.

My "connection" to DA is that I used to beta test for them. Not really sure why its relevant though. He asked a question and I answered it.

The Lifeguard will send emails if a parameter is out of whack, based on the ranges that you set up. You don't need a controller with the NET module to do notifications. That is the whole point of why they built the Lifeguard.
