RO ASOV help

Simple but can't seem to figure out.

Been working for years now won't shut off. Found the check valve off the membrane housing leaking so replaced. Tested the AVOS and other I had by connecting directly to supply with a ball valve on output and seems to shut off (and least can't blow through it).

When I reconnect keep getting waste output even with ball valve directly off ASOV closed.

Supply is 60psi with TDS of 177, after membrane is 15 so realize my membrane needs replacing (on order) but some how could the membrane itself be the reason ASOV not working?

I don't think the membrane could be the cause as the ASOV is connectected before the membrane. last time I had a problem with my ASOV not working right it was because of the check valve off the membrane but you changed that so I am not sure.

you could always pull the membrane out and run it like that and see if it shuts off.

frustration reaching a high, really need some help.

Without membrane, with new membrane won't shut off.

Have a couple of valves and tested this time using the output of installed valve to input of one under test. This way would also be confirming one-way check valve not leaking with higher pressure and when tried to blow through ASOV under test, couldn't.

Okay valve is working but thought maybe still leaking when install as can't hold the pressure coming off the pre-filters so connected up the air compressor and ASOV works perfect at 50psi (picture below is how was setup). Install, still seeing the stream of waste water.

Okay then, thought if can't push air through the one under test, let's just run the system with the output of the pre-filter to it. NOPE, won't shut off.

100% confidant everything has been connected properly as has the system working fine for years.
