Overflow hole size

Hey guys, im going to be getting a 125 gallon tank and need to drill holes in it and was wondering what size should I drill for the overflow. Also what return pump would you use. Also can some of you guys show me some pictures of how you guys made your overflow box and return.
Thanks

Lots of unanswered questions.

What type of system are you going to run; bean animal, Herbie, durso?

Sump location?

Do you want internal or external return pump?

When I setup my 75, I went with a BeanAnimal with 1.25" plumbing (in retrospect, too big). Check the silent/fail safe thread for more info than you can digest. I ran my return right over the back wall.

For my 215 I'm building, I'm running the standard Durso and return.

Not sure what system I'm going to use. Which one do you think is better? Im going to have my sump underneath the tank. I want an internal pump.
Thanks

The BA system is nice, probably a bit overkill, but it works and I never had a problem with it.

I'd make it with a 1" drain system.

For an internal return pump, I used and will reuse, an Eheim 1260. Ran essentially nonstop for 2.5 yrs without cleaning without a hiccup. Didn't add excessive heat either.

You could make an argument for some of the newer DC pumps but I've never used one and can't comment on which ones are good. This is assuming your head height will be ~ 5-6ft at most.

BA for sure! I have 2 tanks with them. One on my 72 and one on my 120.

As for the return it will depend on how much flow and if you are going to run any additional equipment. I currently have a mag24 but have a new sicce syncra HF 10 coming tomorrow.
