Can LEDs cause evaporation?

Ok so I just got an LED fixture and I just recently realized that my level has been going down and I can't find a single leak and I've looked all over my tank but when I fill it to the top the water level only seems to drop two inches below the rim of the tank so naturally I checked mostly in tat level for leaks and came up with nothing. But I also have a lid on my tank so idk if it could be evaporation, and I just want suggestions and possible problems.

Even with a lid you will get evaporation. I don't use a light on my qt tank and it has evaporation.

Anytime the moisture content in the air is less than the moisture content in the water you will have evaporation. That is, after all, how clouds are formed.

You do know that it will evaporate naturally no matter what light you have right? And to top it off with fresh water not saltwater ?

I've run LEDs for a couple years. While not as hot as MH's you'll still get evaporation.

Unless your canopy has 90%+ humidity you can expect some evaporation. The molecules of water will to come to equilibrium with the vapor in the air. Less humidity and higher temp, more evap.

Also it isn't good to run a top over your tank. It stops the gas exchanges you need to keep your ph stable

although you have to balance the affect of pH with lid on vs. the risk of carpet surfers taking a dive. if you have any fish shaped like a missile they'll jump.

Assuming you meant 'seasons', true, but I get more evaporation in the winter than in the summer.

This really isn't true, except perhaps in an extreme case of a tight fitting glass lid on a system with no sump for example.

There are all kinds if options like canopies, solid & mesh lids available that will provide all the air exchange you need. Especially when even a small ventilation fan is used but even that isn't mandatory. You absolutely do not need to have an open top system to get proper air exchange.
