What do you have your water level depth set at for your CO-3?

My water level is approximately 9.5".

If I recall correctly, they recommend between 8 to 10".

Did you do the air silencer mod (putting tephlon around the black screw and an o-ring around the base of the silencer tube)?

So the manuel says between 6-10". Most on the CO-1 reviews on the thread (by Reeftivo) seems to settle between 9 1/4 and 9 1/2". I was curious if the CO-3 owners added more or less depth. I was planning starting at 9 1/4" and have the ability to go deeper than 12, but sure that won't be needed. 10 1/2 seems deep, but if the shoe fits....

I didn't know about the mod, but I don't have any noise issue. I also run a full Herbie Siphon , so my system is super quite, with no air in my drains

I tried lower, I started at 9" and worked my way up.

I'm actually at 10" , I measured from outside the tank the other day, but last night I measured the actual water depth, and it's at 10"

I also, used a 40 gallon breeder, so I have 16" of tank height, and found 10" to work for me

Anything lower it was to inconsistent and overflowing.

Right now on my 180 I empty the cup about every 4-5 days, it's about 1/2 full.

I have the Reef Octopus PO-V series before this skimmer, and by far this is the best skimmer I've owned. Once it's tuned in, it's very consistent, never have any overflows on the cup, and the gunk it pulls out now that I have close to 20 fish in my 180, is dark, and thick, and boy does it stink!

I bought a Bubble Magnus Curve 5 for my 57 rimless, and if it doesn't skim like the Aquamaxx it will go up for sale, and I'll buy the Aquamaxx Cone S1 for my 57

Would this skimmer be overkill on a 140 gallon system tank and sump combined? Its only $70 more than the CO-2. Im planning on upgrading to a bigger tank in a year or two and that way I wont have to buy another skimmer.

Others can pip in, but I bought the CO-3 for 120gal total water volume, but very heavily stocked. I had done some emailing to Marine Depo and they said both would work, but would recommend the CO-3.
