2 Jebao WP40 Wavemaker in 75 gallon to much?
I have 2 Jebao WP40 Wavemaker in my 75 Gallon tank. I have it set up peninsula style with one short edge containing my glass overflow and my return. I have one of the WP40 Wavemakers underneath the overflow box and the other one on the other short side. I've been dealing with a lot of blowing sand. Last night I turned off the WP40 on the non overflow side which seemed to help, but I am wondering if the WP40's are just too much for the size tank. I would love some thoughts and opinions. I can try and upload a video if needed. thank you. Oh i should also add my return pump is a Eheim 1262 fed into a bulk head that feeds 2 BRS reactors and my fuge.

I would say yes it's to much since your have sand if you were BB I would say it's pushing it but you could get away with it you could always get the dimmer for it and lower the speed on them

I have the controller for both of them and they are on the lowest setting. I cant even run the wave features cause it causes to much wave and blowing sand. Would running one be ok or should I try and trade/sell them for two Wp25?

I don't think the strength settings work on all modes I know it doesn't on else mode but there sell dimmers that lower the voltage on the pump so it you have more control on the speed that's what I was referring to not the setting on the controller but you could run one and see how you like it and if still to much just trade them or if it's not enough trade one for a 25

I see, thanks for the input and thoughts NastyZ. Think I'll post an interest thread to see if anyone is willing to trade a WP25 for a WP40. The WP40 i have are practically brand new, purchased them in May.

I have 3 WP40's in my mixed 180 with a 2" sand bed and it doesn't blow around.. and two of those 40's are fanning back n forth on DIY Sea Sweeps.
What kind of sand do you have and what Wave/Speed modes are you using? Also, which way are the 40's pointed? Have you heard of the JB Wave? With the stock controller you're limited to reducing the speed to only 50-75%. With the JBW you can adjust speeds from 0-100% and also have more reef modes to choose from. You can also set one WP40 with a speed range of lets say 30-50% and the other one 80-100%. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-JBWave-W...item27e46454cf |

wow, no i haven't heard of this. Seems pretty cool. I think you may have found my solution. I have fine sand and right now the single pump is set to H3 which i think is the lowest setting. I also have the light sensor installed, but notice it doesn't do much. I have it pointed up towards the surface and to the opposite corner. Will try and post up some pictures tonight. But I am really digging that controller you posted.

2 - WP25's would be plenty for a 75 gal tank.
I had to downgrade from WP25's to WP10's in my tank, just couldn't do anything without a sand storm. |

Yeah, it might be tough with fine sugar size sand or oolite. That's what I had in my last tank and could only make it a day or so before I had a bare spot in front where the sand cleared away. I'm using CaribSea sand again, but its the next size or two up from the oolite..
My 40's on the JBW/DIY SeaSweeps are pointed straight/level and are set to Full Random. The single 40 using the stock controller is angled up about 30 degrees to help with waves and agitating the surface.. no sand storms and it's just the right amount of flow so I don't have any dead spots. It took a few beers and a couple hours playing around with different angles and settings to get it figured out.. You could always downgrade to 25's.. or just get the JBW and play around with the settings. With a range of 0-100% and ten different reef/wave modes I think you could get them dialed in just right.. even with the fine sand |

Awesome! It's super easy to use.. I could have prob been done sooner but was having fun playing with different waves, modes, etc.
Guessing you already saw this, but if not their site has some good info. http://www.joejaworski.com/jebao/index.html Any questions at all when you get it just send me a PM if you want.. |

Got the controller and set up. So much better controller that the stock controller. I can now feel confident that my 2xWP40 will work and not create a sand storm. radobahn thank you so much for telling me about this.
